20 Micro Wedding Venues in Pittsburgh to Check Out for Your Intimate Wedding

Intimate Micro Wedding with Couple Holding Hands

As we head out of COVID-19 (at least in the wedding world), finding micro wedding venues in Pittsburgh can be somewhat of a challenge.

Many couples cannot wait to celebrate with as many people as possible, so a lot of wedding venues are ditching their micro wedding packages and going back to large-scale events. (They make more money that way, so you can’t really blame them).

BUT… as a micro wedding planner, I’ve put together a list of micro wedding venues in Pittsburgh for you to consider for your big day.

Why Have a Micro Wedding?

First, cutting down on your guest list can greatly reduce the amount of waste produced by your wedding. This means that micro weddings can be more sustainable. (If having an eco-friendly wedding is something you’re interested in, but you don’t know where to start, I would love to help you out! Micro weddings are also more cost-effective

However, if you have the money to spend, micro weddings allow you to put the money that would have otherwise gone toward a higher guest count into providing you and your guests with a more elevated, luxurious experience.

Finally, having a more intimate wedding is a great way to ensure that you have only the people you truly care about and who truly care about you by your side on your wedding day. This often leads to less stress, less drama, and fewer regrets.

A Few Notes about Having a Pittsburgh Micro Wedding

Venues prefer to reserve the weekends for larger weddings in order to bring in more revenue, so many of them hold micro weddings only during weekdays. Many venues also now consider Fridays as part of the weekend, given the growing demand for Friday weddings.

Additionally, you should know that most (if not all) of the micro-wedding and elopement packages that venues offer are meant to be short and sweet. Therefore, if you want a long, relaxing day where you don’t have to rush around from one moment to the next, just know that this will price you out of micro-wedding and elopement packages among venues and any other wedding vendors, such as planners and photographers.

Also, while I have chosen to list only one winery wedding venue on this list, I should note that many Pittsburgh wineries allow for intimate weddings at an affordable price and are great options to consider.

Should You Hire a Micro Wedding Planner?

I realize I’m totally biased about this, but YES!

Yes, having a micro wedding means fewer guests. BUT… you might still need to make most of the same decisions that you would need to make if you had over 100 guests. You still need to coordinate the venue, the food, the entertainment, the officiant, the decor, the invitations, the florals, the rentals, the attire, etc.

If you choose a venue with an all-inclusive micro wedding package, this might cut down on the need for a planner in some areas, but I recommend still considering hiring a wedding day coordinator. (Related Post: What to Expect from a Wedding Day Coordinator)

A big reason why I advocate for hiring a planner is to help you establish a budget and stick to it. Even though a chunk of your budget will go toward the planner, your planner will work with your remaining budget to ensure that your wedding is what you want it to be.

Here are some more reasons why you should consider hiring a wedding planner, especially an eco-friendly wedding planner.

The cost of a micro wedding planner can vary. If the scope of work required is similar to a wedding with a larger guest count, then they may charge similarly to a full-service wedding. However, many micro wedding planners offer packages or can create custom packages that keep things simpler for them and can, therefore, cut down on their fee.
